Ovarian cancer is called the "Silent Killer" of women in Australia.

Although ovarian abnormalities are easily seen on a pelvic ultrasound, as the ovaries are not as accessible for assessment as the breast, most ovarian cancers are only picked up when metastasised throughout the body and are usually beyond cure. A pelvic ultrasound can demonstrate early suspicious changes that can be followed up and have surgical intervention if required.

The non-invasive test usually involves transabdominal and transvaginal approach, which is done in a professional environment with minimal inconvenience to the patient.
